Weekend Crime Roundup: Assault Arrest, Drug Charges, Motorcycle Crash Among Ross County Sheriff's Office Calls
ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff's Office responded to a wide range of incidents over the weekend, including an assault that led to an arrest, a serious motorcycle crash, drug-related arrests, theft investigations, and multiple mental health and welfare calls.
Assault Arrest in Frankfort
Deputies responded Saturday evening to the 11000 block of State Route 138 near Frankfort for a disorderly complaint. Following an investigation, one person was arrested on charges of assault, menacing, and criminal mischief. Additional charges included driving under suspension related to child support or unpaid fines.
Motorcycle Rider Airlifted After Crash
A motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday evening following a single-vehicle crash at Charleston Pike and Spud Run Road.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies found the rider being treated by Harrison Township Fire and EMS. The rider was flown by medical helicopter to Grant Medical Center, and the crash remains under investigation.
Drug Arrest During Traffic Stop
Friday evening, a traffic stop on Rozelle Creek Road resulted in a warrant arrest and suspected narcotics being recovered.
The driver faces charges including drug trafficking, possession of Schedule III, IV or V drugs, operating a vehicle without a valid license, open container, and an improper turn.
Counterfeit Bill Investigation
Deputies began an investigation Friday after a report of a man attempting to use a counterfeit $20 bill on Eastern Avenue in Chillicothe.
Breaking and Entering Reported
Deputies were called Saturday morning to Camelin Hill Road after a delayed report of a breaking and entering and theft. The incident remains under investigation.
Multiple Theft Investigations
Deputies investigated several theft reports during the weekend, including:
A theft on Lower Twin Road near South Salem.
A theft complaint on Jackson Street in Richmond Dale.
A theft report on North Second Street in Frankfort.
A scam-related theft reported in the 36000 block of U.S. Route 50 near Londonderry.
A theft reported by phone involving property allegedly taken during June.
Protection Order Investigation
Deputies responded to Trego Creek Road Saturday afternoon after receiving a complaint of an alleged protection order violation.
Warrant Served
A Friday traffic stop on Cox Road near Massieville Road resulted in a warrant being served. The driver was also cited for driving without a valid license and failing to stay within marked lanes.
Mental Health and Welfare Calls
Deputies handled several mental health-related incidents throughout the weekend, including:
A woman on West Hydell Road who was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for an emergency mental health hospitalization after deputies responded to reports of suicidal threats. A firearm was seized during the investigation.
A suicidal threats complaint on Hospital Road Friday.
Assistance with a mental health investigation involving a veteran at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center Saturday night.
An additional call involving an alleged mentally ill person on Woodland Way Friday.
Deputies also conducted numerous welfare checks throughout the county.
Missing Persons and Juvenile Cases
The sheriff's office investigated a missing person complaint in South Salem and followed up on a reported sighting of a missing juvenile near State Route 104 and Williamsport Pike, but the juvenile was not located.
Deputies also responded to multiple unruly juvenile complaints, including one in the Laurelville area where Child Protective Services was contacted.

Identity fraud involving an alleged mobile home moving scam.
Criminal mischief complaints.
Reports of gunshots on Malone Road.
A vehicle reportedly struck by a golf ball on State Route 104.
A misuse of the 911 system that resulted in an arrest on Westfall Road.
A non-suspicious death investigation on Marietta Road near Kingston.
Numerous non-criminal complaints, welfare checks, and traffic-related investigations.
