Ross County Sheriff's Office Responds to Attempted Burglary, Weapons Investigation, Assault and Multiple Theft Reports

ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Deputies with the Ross County Sheriff's Office handled a wide range of calls across the county on Tuesday, July 14, including an attempted burglary that resulted in two arrests, a weapons investigation, multiple theft complaints, an assault, and several mental health-related incidents.

One of the day's more serious calls occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Woods Hollow Road, where deputies responded to a reported attempted burglary. According to the sheriff's office, the victim reported a man had attempted to force entry through a back door of the residence. The suspect was arrested at the scene, while a woman was also taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.

Earlier in the day, deputies attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a residence on Narrows Road discovered several firearms inside the home. The sheriff's office opened an investigation into possible having weapons while under disability violations. No additional information has been released.

Deputies also investigated several theft-related incidents throughout Ross County. Reports included a theft on Crouse Chapel Road, another on Creek View Drive, and a reported scam on Black Run Road. All three cases remain under investigation.

In Bainbridge, deputies responded to South Quarry Street just after 9 p.m. following an assault complaint. Additional details about the incident were not immediately available.

Later Monday evening, deputies were called to the Dollar General on Blain Highway after reports of an unconscious woman. According to the sheriff's office, the investigation resulted in drug possession and warrant-related charges.

Deputies also assisted with a mental health emergency after a woman who had been placed under an emergency hospitalization order, commonly referred to as a "pink slip," reportedly left the hospital near State Route 159 and Hospital Road. She was located by deputies and safely returned to the hospital for further evaluation.

Other incidents reported Tuesday included:

  • A disorderly conduct complaint on Musgrove Road.

  • A domestic dispute on Old Route 35 that resulted in a report involving a person alleged to be mentally ill.

  • A private property crash on Hospital Road.

  • An unattended child complaint on Western Avenue.

  • A welfare check request on North Paint Street.

  • Assistance provided to Job and Family Services with an ex parte order involving a dependent child.

  • Property damage reported on Terace Road near Londonderry.

  • Assistance to the Ohio State Highway Patrol near U.S. 50 and U.S. 35.

  • A non-suspicious death investigation on South Maple Street in Bainbridge.

  • A domestic dispute on State Route 28 near Frankfort, where deputies arrested a man on a charge of disorderly conduct while intoxicated.

Deputies also issued a traffic citation following a traffic stop on North Bridge Street for failure to obey a traffic control device.

In total, the Ross County Sheriff's Office documented 24 incidents during the reporting period. Several investigations remain ongoing.
