Chillicothe Police Investigate Burglaries, Assault, Drug Cases and Injury Crash

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe Police officers responded to a variety of incidents across the city on Tuesday, July 14, including burglary investigations, an assault, multiple warrant arrests, drug-related investigations, and a traffic injury crash.

One of the day's notable incidents occurred around 5:20 a.m. when officers were dispatched to 29 S. Watt Street following a reported burglary. The case also involved warrant and obstructing official business offenses. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.

A second burglary investigation was launched later in the day after officers responded to 1090 Theatre Street at approximately 5:19 p.m. Police said the investigation remains active.

Officers were also called to Southern Ohio Monument, 184 E. Main Street, on a reported burglary complaint. The incident was classified as non-criminal while investigators continue looking into the circumstances.

Detectives also continued an investigation into an alleged drug trafficking case that began on July 13. According to the report, the investigation involves suspected trafficking in drugs and remains active.

Another drug-related investigation was opened after officers responded to Kingston National Bank on Western Avenue. The report lists the offense as funding of drug or marijuana trafficking, and the case remains under investigation.

Police responded to several warrant-related incidents throughout the day, including warrant service at a residence on East Fifth Street, service of a failure-to-appear warrant at the Ross County Jail, and another warrant arrest later that evening on North Paint Street.

At approximately 10:33 a.m., officers investigated a traffic injury crash at the intersection of North High Street. The preliminary offense listed was failure to yield the right of way while turning left.

Officers also took a report of a hit-skip crash that allegedly occurred on July 9 at the McDonald's on East Main Street. The investigation remains pending.

Several disorderly conduct complaints kept officers busy throughout the day, including:

  • A domestic dispute on South Hickory Street.

  • A complaint on Sycamore Street.

  • A trespassing complaint at Ultimate Shine Car Wash on North Bridge Street.

Police also investigated a reported theft on Western Avenue, where officers were dispatched to a possible larceny complaint.

Late Tuesday evening, officers responded to 741 E. Main Street following an assault complaint stemming from a domestic dispute. According to the report, an argument over dog feces inside the home escalated after one resident confronted another about cleaning up after the dog. Police said the verbal dispute moved outside, where one person admitted slapping the other during the confrontation. The incident remains under investigation.

Other calls handled by the department included:

  • A welfare check involving a woman inside a vehicle following an accident at the Sheetz gas station on North Bridge Street.

  • An investigation into allegations that grandchildren had been assaulted after a woman reported the incident at the Ross County Law Enforcement Complex.

  • A crash on South Paint Street, where officers completed a traffic report.

  • A noise complaint on Western Avenue that resulted in charges including falsification, obstructing official business, and outstanding warrants.

In total, the Chillicothe Police Department logged 19 incidents during the reporting period. Several investigations remain ongoing.
