Ross County Deputies Investigate Theft, Vandalism, Drug Case and OVI Crash
ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office responded to 12 reported incidents Monday, including investigations involving alleged theft, vandalism, a suspected drug offense, breaking and entering, and an operating a vehicle under the influence crash, according to the department’s daily report.
The incidents were reported throughout Ross County and neighboring communities on July 13, 2026.
Deputies responded around 8:11 a.m. to Cooks Hill Road in Chillicothe regarding a vandalism complaint. The report listed the offense as criminal mischief involving damage, tampering or defacing of another person’s property. An investigation was initiated.
At approximately 10:33 a.m., deputies received a complaint on South Main Street in Frankfort from Lawrence R. Legg, who reported he did not receive all of his property from a rental property.
Around 1:09 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Westfall Road in Frankfort regarding a theft complaint. The caller reported paying for work that was never completed. The sheriff’s office said an investigation was started.
Deputies also handled a traffic stop around 1:49 p.m. on North Quarry Street in Bainbridge that resulted in suspected narcotics being recovered. According to the report, the stop involved alleged traffic violations, including failure to signal a turn. A citation was issued.
Later Monday afternoon, deputies investigated a reported sex offense complaint involving U.S. Route 23. The report lists the offense as gross sexual imposition involving a victim under the age of 13. No additional details were released.
At approximately 5:04 p.m., deputies responded to Black Run Road in Chillicothe regarding a reported breaking and entering complaint. The sheriff’s office said an investigation was started after contact was made with the complainant.
Deputies also received a theft complaint on Old Route 35 in Chillicothe around 5:12 p.m. A female reported a theft, and a report was taken.
A separate disorderly complaint was reported on Old Route 35 later that evening, though the sheriff’s office classified the incident as non-criminal.
Around 9:13 p.m., deputies conducted a welfare check on True Hollow Road in Chillicothe.
Later that night, deputies responded to North Ridge Road in Laurelville regarding a crash involving a vehicle striking a tree.
According to the report, Deputy Woodbridge investigated the crash and cited the driver for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) and failure to control a motor vehicle. The driver was released to a sober driver after receiving the citation.
The Ross County Sheriff’s Office did not release additional information regarding the open investigations.
