Ross County deputies investigate stolen vehicle, assault, overdose among Wednesday's incidents
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff's Office responded to a variety of incidents across the county on Wednesday, including a reported stolen vehicle, an alleged assault, a suspected drug overdose, and several traffic-related offenses.
Shortly after midnight, deputies arrested a driver on Eastern Avenue in Chillicothe following a traffic stop. The driver was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI), failure to stay in marked lanes, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.
Later in the morning, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Western Avenue after observing a traffic violation. The driver was cited for driving while texting.
Deputies also opened an investigation into a hit-and-run involving private property on Frankfort-Clarksburg Pike after a caller reported damage caused by a vehicle that left the scene.
In Bainbridge, deputies responded to a report of missing medications on Harris Station Road. The incident was documented as non-criminal.
A short time later, deputies answered a call on Upper Twin Road for a man experiencing an altered mental state. According to the sheriff's office, the individual contacted Coleman Services and was voluntarily transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.
Deputies also handled a non-criminal complaint at the Ross County Job and Family Services office on Western Avenue in Chillicothe.
Around 1 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Western Avenue after a vehicle was reported stolen. The theft remains under investigation.
An online report was also filed on Wednesday by a Clarksburg resident who told deputies they were defrauded by someone claiming to represent a utility company.
During the evening hours, deputies began investigating a reported assault on Tabernacle Road after a caller reported that his daughter had been slapped in the face.
Deputies also responded to a vandalism complaint on Thrifton Road near Bainbridge, where an investigation was opened.
The day's final reported incident occurred in Kenowa Village on Pleasant Valley Road, where deputies were dispatched to a possible drug overdose. No additional information about the individual's condition was immediately available.
The sheriff's office documented 11 incidents in its daily activity report for July 15. Investigations remain ongoing in several cases.
