Chillicothe Police Blotter: Drug Arrests, Shoplifting, Warrants Among 18 Incidents on July 15

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to 18 reported incidents on Wednesday, July 15, including drug-related investigations, thefts, warrant arrests, domestic disturbances, and multiple disorderly conduct complaints.

The day's first major incident occurred shortly after 1:20 a.m. when officers conducted a traffic stop behind East Water Street. The stop resulted in an investigation involving suspected operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI), drug possession, and drug paraphernalia. The investigation remains ongoing.

Throughout the morning, officers responded to several disorderly conduct complaints, including a reported domestic dispute on Monroe Avenue, a disorderly incident in an alley behind The Dock on North Mulberry Street, and another complaint on South Renick Avenue.

Police also conducted a welfare check on Liberty Street and responded to a parking dispute on East Water Street. Both incidents were documented as non-criminal.

Around 12:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to Menards on North Bridge Street after a reported theft. The investigation remains active.

A short time later, police responded to Jefferson Avenue after a caller reported believing her daughter had tampered with her vehicle. The matter was documented as non-criminal.

During the afternoon, officers investigated an active domestic disturbance on South Paint Street involving allegations of fighting or threatening behavior.

Police also responded to Walmart on River Trace Lane to investigate a reported theft involving criminal trespass and deception. A separate criminal trespass complaint was reported later at Connect Cafe & Events on East Second Street.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., officers conducting a welfare check on Lillie Street arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant.

Later that evening, a traffic stop on Bridge Street led to a drug possession report.

Police also investigated a theft reported at the Ross County Law Enforcement Complex on West Water Street and responded to Poland Park on South Hickory Street after a suspicious person complaint.

Officers made another warrant arrest around 7 p.m. after stopping a vehicle near East Main and Bridge streets. According to the report, the passenger, James Vanvoorhis, was taken into custody on a bench warrant issued by Ross County Juvenile Court and transported to the Ross County Jail without incident.

At about 8:10 p.m., officers documented found property at the Law Enforcement Complex.

The final incident of the day occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on North Bridge Street, where officers arrested Joseph Willett on an outstanding warrant. According to police, a search incident to arrest uncovered a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The suspected narcotics were collected as evidence for destruction.

Several investigations remain ongoing, according to the Chillicothe Police Department.
