Ross County Deputies Investigate Child Endangerment, Assault, Threats, and Multiple Medical Emergencies

ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff's Office responded to 11 incidents across the county on Thursday, July 16, including investigations into child endangerment, assault, disorderly conduct, and multiple medical emergencies.

The day began just before 9:45 a.m. when deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of Western Avenue in Chillicothe for a juvenile complaint. The call resulted in a child endangerment investigation, and a report was filed.

About 20 minutes later, another incident on Western Avenue involved a reported scam. A Chillicothe resident told deputies he had been the victim of theft after allegedly being scammed. An investigation was opened.

Around 12:35 p.m., deputies responded to Jason Lane near Londonderry after a driver reported suspicious circumstances involving a motorcycle. According to the sheriff's office, a passenger handed the driver a set of motorcycle keys and told him to "keep it" before leaving. Finding the situation unusual, the driver contacted law enforcement, prompting an investigation.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., deputies responded to U.S. Route 23 near mile marker 7 after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman. She was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Later in the afternoon, deputies were called to Marietta Road after a resident reported chemicals were allegedly being sprayed onto their yard. The incident was documented, though no criminal charges were listed.

Just after 5:30 p.m., deputies responded to State Route 28 near Frankfort following reports of possible threats. The incident remains under investigation.

Minutes later, another call in Frankfort involved a vehicle dispute. A caller reported locating a vehicle they said had previously been stolen in Columbus. Deputies documented the incident and began an investigation.

At 6:06 p.m., deputies assisted another law enforcement agency in Portsmouth with the service of a warrant.

Around 6:37 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Chamber Drive in Chillicothe following an assault report at a loading dock. Deputies interviewed multiple people at the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Later that evening, Sgt. Riege responded to Main Street in the Hopetown area after receiving a report of a person who had become unconscious and was barely breathing. Emergency medical personnel transported the individual to Adena Regional Medical Center.

The day's final reported incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. when deputies responded to the homeless shelter on Eastern Avenue in Chillicothe after receiving reports of a fight. The incident was investigated as disorderly conduct.
