Chillicothe Police Investigate Rape Referral, Multiple Thefts, Trespassing Complaints, and Warrant Arrest

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to 20 reported incidents on Thursday, July 16, ranging from a rape investigation and multiple theft reports to trespassing complaints, disorderly conduct calls, and a warrant arrest.

The day began shortly after 7 a.m. when officers responded to 64 N. Walnut St. for a criminal trespassing complaint.

Just before 8:05 a.m., officers investigated a non-injury traffic crash at South Douglas Avenue involving a failure to yield.

At 8:09 a.m., detectives opened a rape investigation after receiving a referral from Nationwide Children's Hospital. Police said the investigation remains ongoing. No additional details were released due to the sensitive nature of the case.

Around 8:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of E. Fourth St. after a reported theft. The investigation remains active.

Police also documented an additional incident on East Eighth Street at approximately 9:46 a.m., though no offense or narrative was included in the daily report.

At 1:05 p.m., officers took a theft report over the phone from a victim who was out of state but said the alleged theft occurred while they were in Chillicothe.

Later that afternoon, officers responded to the U.S. Post Office on South Walnut Street after found property was turned in.

At 1:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to West Seventh Street regarding an unruly juvenile complaint. The investigation remains ongoing.

Another theft investigation began around 3:30 p.m. after officers responded to 605 Liberty St.

At 4 p.m., officers handled a warrant-related incident on East Water Street. Additional information was not immediately available.

At approximately 5:20 p.m., officers responded to the Holiday Inn at 1003 E. Main St. for a criminal trespassing complaint.

One report initiated on East Fourth Street at 5:36 p.m. was later marked as issued in error.

At 5:50 p.m., officers arrested Belinda Lett after locating her riding a bicycle near McArthur Gardens on Columbus Street. Officers confirmed she had an active warrant through Chillicothe Municipal Court for failure to appear. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ross County Jail.

Around 6:25 p.m., a theft report was filed at the Chillicothe Police Department lobby on North Paint Street.

Police responded to an apartment in the 300 block of East Fourth Street shortly after 8:15 p.m. for a domestic dispute that was investigated as disorderly conduct.

A parking complaint on Adena Road was handled around 8:20 p.m.

Minutes later, officers responded to 146 W. Second St. after a motorcycle license plate was reported stolen.

At 8:42 p.m., police were dispatched to Tiffin Towers on South Walnut Street for a report of a disorderly man.

Late Thursday night, officers responded to 135 Scioto Ave. after receiving a report of vandalism, which is being investigated as criminal mischief.

A final report initiated on Liberty Street at 11:29 p.m. was later determined to have been issued in error.

The Chillicothe Police Department continues to investigate several of Thursday's reported incidents, and no additional information has been released regarding the active cases.
